ooooh Maya Karin! She’s so darn pretty, in my opinion. The first pontianak story was ok, i guess. Very sad, instead of scary. The second one.. maybe its too cheem for me, or something, but i couldnt understand much. They changed between past and present too many times, its confusing!

Talking ’bout Maya Karin…I saw her before.
From my opinion, she’s not that pretty. Oklah.
A friend of mine said she’s of English & Malay parentage.
Is it true? Well, she looks very much like malay girl or maybe Indonesian. I prefer Sofea Jane and Juliana Banos.
They’re beautiful. Anyway, 2 Maya’s fans pls do not make a big fuss over this cos I’ve no time for debating. World peace!

thats old pictures duhh… Whats teh big deal with hear wearing a bikini anyway? Its not like you’ve never seen other artists wearing as such (Of course, not malay artists lah). Anyway, when the picture were taken, she was not really aware of local culture and taboos I suppose- she couldnt even speak proper malay at that time. She sound so indonesian whos trying very hard to speak malay slang; it was quite a pain in the ear to hear her talk malay back then. It must have been puzzling to be exposed to germany language, spanish then indonesian then english… wow… But now she has really bloomed in Malaysia and she has mastered malay language and culture (and its taboos, if I may add that. When she was modelling for Wella hair color, gosh her malay was terrible. But once she start the Pantene ads, her malay is quite grounded.
And as Ive said, those pictures were old. She spend years and years in Indonesia and Europe. Indonesia is more open then malaysia. Sexy outfits including swimwears is quite normal for artists. Apparently Malaysia is still conservative-which is neither good nor bad; its when the people use their standards for people who dont come from their background that makes such conservativenes a pathetic thing.
I mean, Maya Karin is not local. She just came here a couple of years ago. You wont treat a foreign person with standards of a local, would you?
Back then she was naive about local conservativeness and she was also chubby. But if you notice now, she is slim and slender, and looks much much prettier.
Yeah maybe you would blame people for saying she’s voted for her beauty- if that is so so true- why she get the award in Japan? And yeah nasha aziz acted a long time- but she can be pretty boring actually. She always talk the “mengada-ngada” or “manja” way in ANY acting-whether she act as a lover, a tomboy or serious or funny acts. Its so blah and predictable-cant say that is great acting.
But maya karin- she really feels her characters. You can FEEL her pain, her happiness, her flirtiness, her anger, her frightenness, her naiveness, her revenge, etc in all the right acts as required by the script. She don’t use the same way of speaking in all her actings. Id say she’s quite good for someone who is not formerly local, and who is still new in the industry of acting.

Yes, Maya Karin is mixed. She has Indian, Chinese, Malay and Germany blood.
Just because one is mixed, doesnt mean she/he look exactly caucasian. Take Cheryl Samad and Marion Counter for example. They both have portuguese blood but they look faaar faaaaar away from caucasian-not even close.
And about maya looking indonesian-yeah I know what you mean. I mean, I assume this is because of her skin color? I notice she love to tan her skin- not like most asians. Perhaps that makes her look very very Malay.I love my skin dark as well- but my boyfriend (who is Arab-same mindset like asians-only like white skin girls-bleh!)gets upset when I tan my skin. He wish I don’t tan my skin, and I wish he dont whiten (by not being in sun, I mean) his skin. I dont hate my white skin but I just love tan color but he hates it. He hates his tan color but I love it. Go figure.
I’m mixed too (Indian, Siamese, Bugis, Portuguese, Minangkabau). When I’m tan I look very malay and when I’m my color (white) I look mixed- some say like Arab some say like uzbek etc…
I dont know why asians are so obsessed about white color. I guess Maya Karin has a really european MINDSET- europeans and whites in general LOVES tan. If theres no sun they would tan using the tan machine indoors. Its such an “in” thing in the West. Perhaps for that very same reason, Westerns find Anggun (the Indonesian dark skinned girl) very attractive. Kris Dayanti is so old in the singing industry but the West knows nothing of her.
I guess someone should tell Maya to stop tanning her skin. (LIke my boyfriend did told me… grrrrr!)Her tan skin would be appreciated in Europe but not here… poor thing.

btw, for those who havent know- pontianak harum sundal malam is not a name for a wicked woman- it is actually a name of a type of FLOWER. Yup. You see those flowers she left in her mates’ car in th emovie? Those flowers are called “pontianak harum sundal malam”- who gave this name? No idea. Apparently this flower is very nice, sweet-smelling and perhaps thats why it is associated with the pontianak cum beautiful woman.

Hey all you freaky Maya Karin fans!!! I was really shocked to come upon this website, because it’s not everyday that you realize an old friend ended up being a famous star. I knew her when she lived in Indonesia 10-15 years ago when we were both in middle school. I knew her family, she’s half German & half Malaysian from what I remember. She was a bad basketball player, but was a very good sprinter.
Me and the rest of the guys in my class used to run after all the girls because that’s what we thought would get us action back then, but none of us could ever catch her! She was THAT fast!! Then this one guy called Unga enrolled in the school, and he was fast as heck! He finally caught up to her, and so they went out for a few months.
So I hope you’ve enjoyed this quick little celebrity story. If I see some good feedback, I’ll write more.
