The quality of contestants for Miss Universe Singapore Pageant had been so bad these past years they should be called SPAM!
- First of all it's a beauty pageant but they are not beautiful.
- Since it's a beauty pageant, so let's just stick to it and quit digging their intellect. Intellect does not have looks.
- Almost all of them looked the same. Mass production!
- They are bad representors of an english-speaking country.
- They are bad public speakers.
- The way they smile is like as if they placed a stick from one end of the mouth to the other. So unnatural.
- They walk like robots on the loose.
- They are not beautiful. I know I have mentioned that. Just felt like saying that they are not beautiful many times.
The judges are either dumb, blind, prejudiced or 'tikam-tikam boh tiok'!
Why? It is because year in year out chinese would win. Until India won the international pageants too many times that Singapore decided they gave an Indian looking Noraliza Osman a shot to compete in Miss Universe. A shocker. No Malays or Indians had represented Singapore before (correct me if I am wrong) and that year, it was killing 2 birds with a stone. She had both Indian and Malay heritage and better still, a bonus. She was a law graduate and could speak well.
Too bad, that year, no Indians won and we are back to square one. The contestants for Miss Singapore Universe are not beautiful. I repeat. They are not beautiful. Stop spoiling the meaning and concept of a beauty pageant. Beauties are supposed to be head-turners not head-shakers!
For those who thought these are beautiful, you are blind. Only the camera shots are worth the compliments.
They say beauty and brain are needed for such pageant but sadly, what’s the purpose of having a beauty contest when most of the contestants look like jempot2 pisang got smashed by mamak jual roti prata who caught his wife cheating with apek teh katai? Hancur kan tu.
Yes, most of the contestants haf brains but wat is a beauty pageant without beautiful people?

Maybe they should rename the pageant to Miss Nerd of the Universe (Singapore). Perhaps those nerds look so much better than the ones on tv earlier on. Eeek.

On an empirical level, we all know that the Ms Singapore organizers have a propensity to crown slit-eyed manjens who can’t differentiate between their Rs and Ls. Beauty may be subjective. But year in, year out, the contestants seem to be sub-standard cookie-cutter girls, who wont even get pass the first round in the real Ms Universe in the States. (excluding Ms Nuraliza Osman, who epitomizes genuine beauty and intellect.
Having 3 or 10 judges is inarbitrary, because we all know which ‘juggernaut’community will win. This year’s attempts at focusing on brans and intellect is evidently contrived, affected and overrated.
So to cut the long story shot…

Beauty competitions will not be a waste of time as it will be a good money-making revenue that’ll never die of trend. But I realise that is not your point as your point is about the whole consensus of it.
I agree, humans and media shouldn’t inflict this irritating notion about being beautiful is good and being not beautiful is as good as ugly especially to ourselves let alone the young.
Perfection, as with beauty, is also subjective to a person. Therefore it could exist.
As for my own personal view, I, like you, also believe that beauty pageants should be scrapped and ultimate fighting championship should be promoted.
Perfection for me does exist. Although I also believe in improvement and going beyond the experienced perfection.
But one thing remains apparent, that is, the habit and mindset of Singaporeans are getting narrower. Good thing about it is that, can focus better. The downside of it, they missed out the whole big picture and tend to be self-centred in many ways.
