“I am already beautiful… why do I need an operation? It’s against God’s will to go for an operation. If I just cut it off, I might regret it.

… After all, you just can’t attach it back.” – Rina, a transsexual in the Malaysian not-so-short film “Bukak Api” (translated “Open Fire”) by scriptwriter cum director for this malay movie, Osman Ali.

2 trannies in a roomOverall, Bukak Api’s direction was focusing mainly on the community in Kuala Lumpur, as well as snippets of scenes and conversations creating awareness for the dangers of HIV and STD for and . Perhaps due to the highest rate of transsexuals in Malaysia being Malay, dialogues are conversed in Bahasa Melayu at its most natural form aka ‘Bahasa Pasar’ (street malay lingo’).

Not to worry for the Malay illiterate, they have English sub-titles.

If ‘Sepet‘ and ‘Gubra‘ were well-hated by movie critics and many film goers in Malaysia, how was ‘Bukak Api’ received by the mass? No doubt, its publicity was most likely curbed by the mainstream media due to so-called unwanted scenes which we viewers would love to see.

    Trannies in mini skirts: tick
Blow Job scene in car: tick
    Tranny Catfight: tick
    Bedroom squabbling in lingerie: tick
    Sex Scene: tick
    Chasing the dragon: tick
    Squirting Lube: tick
    Condom in mouth: tick
    Malays kissing: tick
    Malays having sex: tick

Warning: The videos you are about to watch contain the above list.

Having a pretty strong message to create and viewers about the importance of condoms during sexual intercourse, sterilising of needles before injecting into one’s body or the risk of contracting a disease with a carrier even through safe sex, ‘Bukak Api’ is indeed a daring Malaysian film in its own class.

The actors and actresses acted really well. Very natural. Very convincing.

No, ‘Bukak Api’ is not a B-grade or a soft porn flick.

    is reality.

My sincerest apologies. Part 3, is not available on YouTube.com. When I manage to find it, I’ll update this post. For now, spread the word for the sake of better health, better knowledge and better films from Malaysia… and how come I didn’t know of Bukak Api even though it was produced back in 2000?

Apart from being educational, it is quite interesting to watch too isn’t it?

    cheq:
You’re welcome. I was surprised you didn’t catch it because you are a movie buff especially on the local film industry itself, kan?

Anyway, melayu memang tak positive. Me-Layu! Tak positive langsong!

And thank you too for liking it. If you happen to find the ending, please do let me know k?

    lunacy:
Believe it or not, I editted my “warning” paragraph before posting as I wrote something like Warning: Watch your back before your back “pwned you!” but I guess that would be making the film look ‘dirty’ in a sense but then, you should have explained to your director,

“I am watching an educational documentary on the importance of human networking and self-improvement.” True isn’t it?

    CHERri:
They are real bapuks, mak nyahs, transverstites, transsexuals, she-males, ladyboys. I only know a few T-bloggers around. You know any?

    awan:
Wah you watched? How was the ending? The reception? Was it widely viewed? How come many people are not aware of the film? How was the exposure? Any reviews? How long was it aired on cinema? Was it heavily editted? rating for viewership?

gulp.. I never learn so much about condoms before… I don’t know if I can be Nora… it’s conflicting… and they actually grope each other and kiss each other and you know… gulp gulp… can malay muslims do that? Am I the only one here who thinks its so wrong?

And bout transvestites… in a muslim country… I blog about gays and their rights and all, and about the sovereignty of a muslim country to reject them. I feel for the gays and I feel for the prostitutes.. and in between, some things are straight up black and white, though its no excuse to stray one from being compassionate and understanding towards those who do not fit in the mainstream of said society. I don’t know how to argue for the rights of individuals selling themselves to prostitution due to their circumstances, for prostitution is morally wrong in the first place. If that right is only harming themselves, then it’s not a right at all. It’s like a negative liberty as viewed by classic liberals, having the right to do whatever they want with no interference from the govt and all… but if that right exercised (sodomization and unsafe sex) is only causing harm to themselves, is that right even morally right to exist and to be exercised by them?

I think at this point, Malaysia is still holding on to its national-state belief and to its sovereignty of being a Muslim country, and giving the government the leeway to treat minorities (gays/tranvestites in this case) as “the others” in the society, which only rob them of their individual rights to be aknowledged as equal citizens of that country and have an equal opportunity to a decent livehood, instead of prostitution. It’s tough to see this situation in a Islam-Sharia context or in a Western-liberal context.

Toleration towards “the others” here is profoundly minimal, or that, even non-existant, which is really sad, because it’s like for how long can you shun them away? They are a part of the country and a part of the society, the state can’t just suppress their lives to either assimilate or be an outcast, for its not doing any parties any good. What if the government treat them as equal human beings and change the mentality or that the fabric society in Malaysia itself towards these minorities? Maybe the situation will be better? Maybe there won’t be any defiance and segragation in the community itself? But, is it sane enough to apply that in a Muslim country?

In the black and white of things, its wrong sure, but, who are we to judge other people so aimlessly without the compassion and understanding where they come from?

Everything is in its shades of grey… its life.. and its sad… I think.

” dialogues are conversed in Bahasa Melayu at its most natural form aka ‘Bahasa Pasar’ (street malay lingo’).”

Actually, words spoken in Bukak Api is not ‘Bahasa Pasar’. It’s ‘Bahasa Adik-adik’, a unique Malay patois used by gays and trans. There will be Malays who speaks Bahasa Pasar all their live but will not be able to understand what the Bahasa Adik-adik used in Bukak Api. Even the title ‘Bukak Api’ itself alludes many Malays.

“If ‘Sepet’ and ‘Gubra’ were well-hated by movie critics and many film goers in Malaysia”

And where how did you conclude this? I thought many film critics and movie-goers in Malaysia gave rave reviews to these two movies? It’s no secret that only Berita Harian and one Akmal Abdullah gave harsh criticism to these movies.

” its publicity was most likely curbed by the mainstream media due to so-called unwanted scenes which we viewers would love to see.”

This movie was never curbed lah. I even watched the movie at FINAS early this year. He won the coveted “Anugerah Khas Karyawan” in last year’s Pesta Filem Malaysia for making Bukak Api and Malaikat di Jendela. That’s right, he received his much anticipated recognition for these movies.

Somehow, mcm ada terkenal gitu pelakon-pelakon kat dalam. Very the familiar, the voice, the face. Ntah ehk, mungkin pelandok dua serupa lah tu.

My standing is still the same as 4-5 years ago. No discrimination to these people. Tu antara diaorang ngan Allah. Sebagai manusia yang setaraf di dunia, apa yang boleh aku buat nasihat kan je. Nanti bila aku dah setat nak nasihat, ada je diaorg cakap, “Nyah, kau jgn memekak kat sini” or “Sundal kau!” or “Patutlah kau tu pompan, mulut ada dua” ..

In any case, I have my rules with them:-

    - No cat fights
    - No main taibo

Mcm mana pon diaorg tetap lelaki. Mampus aku kena pelapah ngan diaorg.

But I like playing these with them:-

    - Raba diaorg
    - Pegang buah dada diaorg
    - Pegang punggung diaorg
    - Ask them whether they want to have sex with me

Hahaa.. Suka sangat… Sadly, they don’t find me attractive.. Not as a man, not as a woman.. :(

I never had a prostitute friend, but my take remains the same.

    To whoever,

No matter how many awards he received for directing this movie, what I see is Malaysia couldn’t accept reality with Sepet and Gubra together with Bukak Api because of these movies showing what we so called truth.

No doubt all 3 shows mentioned are my cup of tea but if you cast a vote to the rest of Malaysia to find which movie they love most including the much dreaded mainstream ones, like Sembilu or Gila-Gila Pengantin, these 3 wouldn’t hold a chance compared to the latter.

One might argue, “But he won this… but who claims that… but this but that…” but ticket sales for profit says it all.

Promotion = sales = profit. As for this movie, I would love to buy a ticket and watch it in cinemas but I didn’t know it existed. Face the fact, when something you are not proud of, you won’t spread the word. But everyone knows the existence of PGL the movie. Go figure!

    annur:
You didn’t read the title is it? hehe.. it’s ok, your point is valid. It’s like the irony of the Rina’s monologue as quoted in the first paragraph, depicting she still believes in God and fear of the heavy sins if she were to cut it off when in actual religios fact, trans gendering is already very wrong.

No it’s not. It’s very pasar and understandable by most, if not all. Adik-adik terms are very minimal.

As for your other points, Saila had mentioned it in her comment. To me, if I don’t know means it is not well promoted. As for Sepet and Gubra, perhaps media for Malaysia and Singapore had masks of their own that forced us with wrong information all the time. I read SG papers and as far as I am concerned, Berita Harian is widely read in M’sia and even if feedbacks are not true, you can’t blame me for believeing them.

To accept what could have sinned is you should sin together.
To amend what that had sinned, and stay amended, is a deed more than any sin, except syiriq, could have committed as Allah swt is the almighty and He who creates us, loves us and wants us to return to where we belong eventually.”

    THE CURE for HIV/AIDS…….AMBUSH

THE IDEA that AMBUSH cures AIDS
is being proven by the more than 400 individuals who have taken a dose of 60 ml three times daily for 21 days. The result is that AMBUSH ‘KILLS’ the virus by causing the protein envelope to rupture and the viral particles are discarded by the white blood cells. AMBUSH is able to ‘KILL’ the virus that are ‘hiding’ in the lymph system by its ‘natural radioactive’ properties. This process allows the body to ‘return to normal health’ with a corresponding immunity to that or those strains of the virus.

    What is AMBUSH ?
AMBUSH is a radioactive isotope of uranium that is found in the ‘palm’ plant of which there are more than 3000 species. When ingested, AMBUSH causes the body temperature in the trunk area to rise to about 102 degrees when the individual is sleeping. The preparation takes four hours per batch, which is then given to the individuals for consumption 60 ml three times daily for 21 days. AMBUSH is a herbal preparation in this form but it contains an active ingredient which is a ‘NEW’ crystalline substance, a drug from the ‘palm plant’ similarly to ASPIRIN originating from the willow tree bark

    RESULTS:
After 21 days on AMBUSH, ALL the individuals experienced a decrease in viral load to undetectable, an increase in cd4, increase in RBC, an improvement in general health such as more color to the face, decrease in Buffalo hump, an increase in gluteal muscles, a decrease to having no joint pains whereby individuals can bend to touch their toes, and walk up steps are but a few examples. There is also a dramatic increase in their sexual appetite beginning after the first week of therapy

    DISCUSSION:
In any plant concoction such as percolated ‘tea’, there are 30-40,000 compounds, whi ch would take the scientific community twenty years to isolate one particular ingredient if they knew what they were looking for. The LORD GOD has given me seven steps to isolate the active ingredient, which is soft and metallic in nature and has a carbon- uranium-sulfur-(classified)-phentolamine configuration or structure. This is similar to Federick Kekule and the discovery of the benzene ring where he dreamt the structure.

As an antiviral and ‘natural radioactivity’ producing agent, AMBUSH is also effective against leukemia, lupus and HPV. Here I am saying that I have ‘GIVEN’ AMBUSH in the same ’strength’ and dosage to patients with leukemia, lupus and HPV. A 35 year old male with HIV found it difficult to impossible to urinate was put on ‘green tea’ and water while the doctors contemplated prostrate surgery. One of the doctors gave him my number , I sent him a supply of AMBUSH an d he has not been given any more ARV’s, since taking AMBUSH 18 months ago, is in ‘good’ health and has expressed a willingness to be examined by HIV investigators like many others who have taken AMBUSH.

I have sent this ‘IDEA’ to most HIV research agencies, scientist of the field, universities, hospitals, clinics, politicians and news agencies to which it is REJECTED because the name of THE LORD GOD is mentioned. He has steered me scientifically through the processes such as which plant and how to produce the active ingredient. What are the odds of a Florida Pharmacist picking a plant would contain the CURE for HIV/AIDS ?
I have never charged any of the people for their supply of AMBUSH but a life saving has been spent on the project with NO renumeration from any sources because AMBUSH falls outside the walls of modern medicine and research.

    PROPOSAL:

My proposal is that I PROVE that AMBUSH CURES HIV/AIDS by giving it to a number of END-STAGE or DRUG-RESISTANT people and the scientific community watches their recovery. This proposal addresses the problem in that I have already outlaid the results to be obtained.

This IDEA is unconventional in that the scientific community has rejected AMBUSH because I say it is GOD given. Secondly if I wrote it according to certain standards, then it might be peer reviewed. However, THE LORD GOD has also shown me that there are five enzyme systems associated with the virus, reverse transcriptase, protease, fusion and two more of which causes the virus to be AIRBOURNE. This means that without DIVINE intervention mankind and ALL warm- blooded mammals will be extinct in a number of years.

The PROOF of what I am saying is found in scientific papers wherein it is found that when the protease cuts the viral strands, it cuts it at DIFFERENT lengths EVERY time, to which it should always be a valine at the end but is a different amino acid every time. This is why it is IMPOSSIBLE to produce a VACCINE.

Since this is NOT a hypothesis but there are about 400 individuals who have taken AMBUSH, here lies a vast area in which to check, recheck and confirm that AMBUSH CURES AIDS. Let it be mentioned that during the HIV reproductive cycle, reverse transcriptase converts viral RNA into DNA compatible to human genetic materials. Thus the human DNA has been ‘hijacked’ and since each person has a DIFFERENT DNA, then the new viral copy is unique to that person which shows that each individual has a DIFFERENT STRAIN of the virus. Consider two HIV positive people swapping viral strains and increasing its complexity with multiple partners.
It can also be proposed that they be revisited as proof that the strain or strains that they had were ‘killed’ at the time of taking AMBUSH considering that a person can catch as many different strains as there are people who are infected by HIV.
I am also willing to work with the scientific community in identifying those individuals who took AMBUSH and wish to be identified with this process notwithstanding that some are stigmatized while others are jubilant,

Once AMBUSH is verified as being able to accomplish that which is aforementioned then the next stage might be the natural and artificial synthesis of the substance.

Finally, if this is accepted or not, believed or not, THE LORD GOD always wins and this is the heavenly truth to which AMBUSH was divinely given to mankind for the CURE of HIV/AIDS and it will be here forever. Apostle Shada Mishe.
