The last 2 days was well spent. Not really literally as damages were as much as SGD$1,179.
Though the original damage could be as much as SGD$2,489, the full body kit for the Honda Stream was finally installed. For free, of course, after so much of negotiations and patience and not to forget trading off of the rear view cam and LCD monitor and DVD unit for just an upgrade to bigger & lighter, 17 inchers from the stock’s 15 and better set of tyres.
I found the trade off a real bargain. Because Kenwood’s new DPX-MP5100U is a real joy to have and exactly what Lis and I were looking for. Something simple, has a USB port to play directly from MP3 players, AUX jack to plug in her PMP (Portable Media Player), multi format reading (Audio CDs, MP3, WMA) and easy on the interface.
We got the DPX-MP5100U off the rack for SGD$380 inclusive of installation at NHK Auto Accessories at Turf City. Good service, friendly, can joke around with and at the same time, straight to the point. I had no plans whatsoever in getting the unit as I was just strolling around while waiting for the kit to be up until the owner caught my attention with his transparency in business and allowing me to meddle with his products even when I didn’t promise to get anything.
Inffra-cool Film Supply done up the body kit in a breeze, completing it in slightly more than an hour while tripling up with several other customers, which we had waited for almost a month and a half from another supplier who had last minute withdrawn claiming that there was no stock coming till next month. The owner of Inffra-cool Film Supply was young and hardworking and consistently on the go attending to customers. Their staff are warm and approachable and made us feel like very important people. It might want to go back there to get the Decepticon logo since they ran out of stock. Only Autobots ones are left. Damn Singaporeans… act evil only (me included).
So much for car stuff, the new toy that I mentioned is in fact a camera that I have eyed for months! It all started when retail was going for SGD$999 and Mustafa Centre was letting go at SGD$899. Lis said let’s go get it, I said WAIT!
And the wait is not forever. I believe the price may drop in a few months but in that few months, I do not wish to fall in love with another camera.
Panasonic’s Lumix FZ50 is a true beauty boasting up to 10.1MP with 12x optical zoom. I’ve always wanted a camera not as technical as a Pro DSLR or as simple as a point and shoot and FZ50 allows you to save battery as its zooming features are all manual for a non DSLR. It is also speedlight attachable. DPreview’s review on FZ50 all here.
We got the camera for SGD$799, plus another tripod for our collection, and another camera bag for our collection and 2 pieces of 2GB SD cards! I actually asked for spare batteries, cleaning kits and larger storage card but I guess I need to work on my negotiation skills as they don’t seem to buy in my bargain.
We bought new rechargeable batteries to replace our old ones (nowhere to be found) which are part of some reasons why we were no longer playing with old Pentax Optio S40. Now there’s no excuse to sell away the old one as I find it to be very useful and of course, it meant some sentimental value to both Lis and I.
I might want to trade off, sell or giveaway certain items that need new owners to Sayang them so keep in touch okay?
