Met him, Shammie, in 1999 when he recommended me a job that brought me to know my then Assistant Manager, Vivi. Then got to know Katek in the same working place in 1999. Shammie was the appointed leader/ mentor for me at that point of time.
Shammie was from the same army camp as me. That’s how we started. Then all else continued.
Sammi had the same office premises just a few units away being amazed at how we, Vivi, Shammie, Katek and myself did sales back then.
Just a short working time together we somehow became close colleagues, minus Sammi who was totally out of the picture and was merely a stranger observing another but the relationship between Shammie, Vivi, Katek & myself drifted as we chose different career choices along the years. I didn’t like Shammie and Katek anyways so it didn’t bother me at all.
Now Sammi had blossomed into a successful entrepreneur in his same company, so different from how he started off back then while he was still nursing his studies in a local university.
Then Sammi hired me but I quit because I didn’t like the environment.
Sammi hired Vivi because Vivi happened to challenge Sammi’s company’s interviewing standards and Vivi got himself a lucky spot to open up a team.
Vivi called ex-staff of Sammi’s and I was on the list and when I came down for the interview was automatically hired to lead for his growing team.
Later on Vivi and me had some rough patches going on and I decided to quit.
One and a half months later Vivi called to hire me back. I accepted the offer for the second time. This time round with a pay raise.
Then along came Katek and was offered by Vivi a better position to assist Vivi in managing the department. Katek accepted and left his then career in the retail line. Along the way Vivi and Katek had a rough relationship and I was caught in between but the one who planned to leave was me again because of certain demands not met.
I quit but only lasted for a day because Sammi called back to adhere to the demand. Another pay raise. 2nd in 6 months.
But due to Vivi and Katek not working well together, Vivi went on to training instead. Katek then became the head of the department assisted by me. But I was not happy working for or with Katek, cutting the story short. 7 months later, Katek was pulled out to do a different project and the whole team was finally handed over to me.
Of course, I was happy but Sammi wanted me to do even more. He doubled me in his management duties as well as managing my own team. I am still ok with that. Now Katek, sends his reports to me along with all other department heads.
Today Vivi called me to introduce me to someone and told me to come over to the office reception.
It was Shammie. He came for an interview interested to work on my product line. I interviewed him and he will be starting his first day as soon as this Wednesday as he is coincidentally experienced in the same line.
Funny how paths took their roles and lead humans into our own life choreography. I wonder what would be changed sooner or later and what could have changed if I had changed a bit of the decisions along the way. Too bad I can’t do anything right now.
What I learn and still am learning, whatever you do, do first, talk later. It means, think, decide, execute and deliver. Then comes any negotiation that could reward oneself. When things are for a bargain, it’s not worth as much as something that has a higher resale value.
What’s important to me right now is I have a job and I am thankful I can’t cope with work. Better than having nothing to do. Nevertheless, Shammie, welcome on board. Now it’s my turn to take care of your needs in the office.

And I want to say on your behalf that you are thankful to be married to the wonderess woman of the millennium. She cooks, cleans, sweeps, mops and watch TV all by herself (without your help).
P.S : Congrats on you turning one year with her.
